EVERY IDEA BEGINS WITH A VISION
The best way to bring your vision to life is with a pen and note pad. That is why at Graphite we suggest that, prior to calling us, you think about the needs you have for your home and then jot them down. Identify those things that are essential to your lifestyle – is a large open-plan living arrangement important? Do you need a large back yard? How many bedrooms and bathrooms do you need? There are so many resources that can help you with your ideas, so we recommend that you start an account with Houzz.com where you can create and share your online scrapbook. You can also begin saving pictures from Pinterest so we can understand your style. By doing this, we can get crystal clear on the direction the construction project should go.
During your first one-on-one meeting, Michael will begin by gathering information on your lifestyle and living arrangements. This is a casual get-to-know-each-other meeting, where Michael develops an understanding of what’s important to you. This will flow into looking at your Houzz or Pinterest ideas, sketches, and the like. We can then assess the buildability of those ideas within your land or current home layout and budget expectations.
DESIGN AND PLANS
The information obtained from the initial meeting will assist in the design of your new home, renovation or extension. Michael will sit down with his designer to come up with the plans, or if you have existing plans, we can provide costings from these.
Press fast forward now! Skipping all the boring bits, Graphite will also take care of the council submissions, knock backs, revisions and the like until final approval is received.
We’ll complete the costings based on the final design and your materials selections and provide you with a detailed quote covering your entire project. Michael will meet you face-to-face to personally go through the agreement line-by-line so that you are aware and understand all the inclusions and exclusions. This will give you an opportunity to ask questions, discuss items that are unclear, and change parts of the scope of the project, if required.
We are up and away! On receipt of the signed detailed agreement listing all inclusions and qualifications, it’s time to build. This is when the magic happens. If it’s a renovation or extension where you’re still living in the home, rest assured that Michael and the rest of the Graphite team have got you covered. Michael has an obsession with clean work sites, and he will make sure that all surfaces are protected and the work area is cleaned after every work day.
Regardless of the scope or complexity of the build, you can rest assured knowing that you’re in good hands. By this stage you will have a firm idea of Michael’s strong communication skills and approachable style. We adopt a friendly, open communication approach whereby you are briefed at every stage of the project and informed ahead of time of coming activities. We want you to enjoy the journey and make it a memorable experience!
Your home is complete – now all you have to do is enjoy it.
